What is Know Error DSPA?
Strand Diagnostics has developed and markets the know error® system for biopsy patients. The Know Error DNA test involves DNA Specimen Provenance Assay (DSPA) testing to improve diagnostic accuracy by confirming that specimens are not contaminated with foreign DNA. Simply put, DSPA compares the DNA profile (fingerprint) of a patient’s cheek swab to the DNA profile (fingerprint) of the cancerous biopsy specimen(s) used to make a diagnosis. Matching DNA profiles confirms that the specimens belong exclusively to the patient being evaluated, allowing patient, family members, physicians and oncologists to proceed with complete confidence in the patient’s diagnosis.
